The John Kazen, PA-C Student Scholarship

About The Scholarship

The Bexar County PA Society (BCPAS) takes great pleasure in offering scholarship awards to students in their didactic and clinical phases of the PA Program. There will be four $500 awards granted to students.

In an unexpected turn of events in January 2021, we lost John Kazen, PA-C. He was a remarkable individual who graduated from UTMB at Galveston's PA program at the tender age of 19. For over 43 years, he remained devoted to family practice medicine in San Antonio. John was among the pioneering physician assistants in San Antonio, initiating his career at a solo family practice clinic. His journey saw him dedicating significant time to mentoring, guiding, and educating aspiring advanced practice providers. He served as an associate professor for UTHSCSA PA Program and as a preceptor in family practice medicine at the University of Texas Rio Grande. John's dedication extended to volunteering at various organizations, including holding roles such as vice president and treasurer of the Bexar County PA Society and an adviser to the American Academy of Family Practice Physician’s Assistants. He held a strong commitment to his patients, his profession, and his community. This scholarship stands as a testament to his enduring legacy, ensuring that his contributions will always be remembered.
